About

Biography

My name is Forrest Humphrey. I am a visual artist currently attending Antioch College in southwestern Ohio. My work is interdisciplinary, ranging from painting and drawing, sculpture and installation, and performance. I have a diverse background in Waldorf education, which puts a high priority on visual art, and circus arts. my primary interest, apart from visual art is education. This interest has led me to experiential education including outdoor education such as rock climbing, and circus arts education. In both of these disciplines I seek to go beyond the traditional mental and analytical elements of education and engage student’s kinetic and interpersonal abilities.

My current artistic practice involves incorporation my own personal experiences and memories into my artwork. Through personal experience I seek to examine how we relate to memory and ritual. Additionally, I examine how I as an artist relate to history, both my own personal history and the discipline of art history. In my work I try to be conscious of how a can relate to, and critique art history. My goal is to understand where I fit into the art world and how to communicate effectively within that world.
